Vlc Media Player For Mac Catalina

Hi

VLC Media Player has to be one of the most popular third-party media players available for Mac (as well as PC, Android, iOS and so on) due to its compatibility with a breathtaking number of audio. Almost all video crashes, when i try to rewind it, or change volume. It happens when i use standard macOS programs, like quicktime, photo app, itunes, appstore. When i open any video in VLC media player - it works great. I have mapped layouts in info.plist - it's work, but doesn't solve my problems with videos. VLC media player VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.

Just purchased a Startech USB C to HDMI 2 adapter as a test really... I want to try playing back HDR graded content from my editing/colour software. I figured I'd playback some hdr content with VLC to test but although it looks good (colour space conversion seems to kick in nicely, if a bit saturated) the HDR system message doesnt seem to appear on my TV (LG) as it does with other content. I read somewhere that VLC doesnt support HDR on a mac - is this still the case? Anyone have any ideas how I can output hdr 4k material from my 2019 macbook pro? If not, struggling to see what the point of an upgraded HDMI adapter acutally is...
Thanks!Vlc Media Player For Mac Catalina

Devices and Mac OS X version

VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor or an Apple Silicon chip. Previous devices are supported by older releases.
Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.

If you need help in finding the correct package matching your Mac's processor architecture, please see this official support document by Apple.

Web browser plugin for Mac OS X

Support for NPAPI plugins was removed from all modern web browsers, so VLC's plugin is no longer maintained. The last version is 3.0.4 and can be found here. It will not receive any further updates.

We provide older releases for users who wish to deploy our software on legacy releases of Mac OS X. You can find recommendations for the respective operating system version below. Note that support ended for all releases listed below and hence they won't receive any further updates.
